Naomi and I found ourselves starting our last day on Vancouver Island in historic Chinatown and wandering towards one of my favorite attractions, the Royal BC Museum.
Chinatown is a charming part of Victoria which contains many original neon signs that I absolutely adore. We visited the historic Fan Tan alley, which is also located in Chinatown. Once home to illegal gambling parlors & opium dens, today, it is home to many restaurants and curio shops.
I’ve always wanted to stay at The Fairmont Empress Hotel. Opened in 1908, the hotel has had royal families and movie stars stay as guests over the years. Unfortunately on this trip we couldn’t stay because the place was completely booked for the weekend.
No visit to Victoria is complete without hitting up my favorite museum, the Royal BC Muesum. I remember coming here when I was a little kid and being enthralled at the displays. Decades later the museum hasn’t changed much, but it still puts a smile on my face. As you wander through the life size dioramas, the museum tells the story of the history of British Columbia.
A room that holds a chronological lifestyle history of BC is one of the many great exhibits at this museum.
