Hauling 2000 78rpm records back homePosted by: ryan @ 12:46 am in records & music, vintage finds |
Have you ever come across a moment in life where you’ve asked yourself, “What am I getting myself into?” One of those moments for me was last fall when I hauled back home over 1000lbs of 78rpm records.

Tune Tuesday: Disperse with the windPosted by: ryan @ 11:39 am in records & music, vintage finds |
Lately, we’ve been playing a lot of American Jazz and Big Band. I thought we’d change it up today and put on this old opera record from Russia.

1940’s CCM Rambler: My new summer bikePosted by: ryan @ 8:22 pm in moving things, vintage finds |
A few weeks ago I mentioned a bike in my post about vintage theater seats. Well, here is that bike. After tracing the serial number, I discovered that it is a 1941 CCM Rambler and is similar to the one currently on display in the Canadian Science & Technology Museum in Ottawa. It needs some work, but I’m looking forward to getting it rolling this summer.

From the other side of the Decca record we featured a few weeks ago, C’est Si Bon, is another one of my favorite songs sung by Louis Armstrong.

Blast from the past – Museum of VancouverPosted by: naomi @ 1:07 pm in reviews, vintage finds |
What is the Museum of Vancouver? The Museum of Vancouver creates Vancouver-focused exhibitions and programs which encourage dynamic conversations about what was, is and can be Vancouver – basically it’s an awesome walk down memory lane with realistic displays of what life was like during different decades over the past 100 years.

Stumbling upon antique movie theatre seatsPosted by: ryan @ 1:13 am in thrifting, vintage finds |
Two nights ago I headed out to South Burnaby to have a look at an old bicycle that someone was selling off Craigslist. Little did I know, I’d also bring back some very old theater seats.

A Revolutionary BicyclePosted by: ryan @ 1:20 pm in reviews, vintage finds |
It’s nearing the end of December and while the weather conditions certainly aren’t ideal for riding a bike, I can’t help but to think of what bicycle I should get to ride along with Naomi in the Spring. I recently bought her a 1960s Dutch Bike. Wanting a matching one, I spent weeks searching but couldn’t find anything within my budget. Dutch bikes from Batavus and Jorg & Olif usually run between $700-$1500. Researching some more, I stumbled across a phenomenal blog by Jeff Stracco, an American Expat, who writes about bicycles in China.

Tune Tuesdays: Dancing In The DarkPosted by: ryan @ 10:59 am in records & music, vintage finds |
This week’s Big Band tune comes from 1931 by American composer/film producer Arthur Schwartz. The particular recording I have is played by Artie Shaw and his orchestra which earned him one of his eight gold records during the 1930s and 1940s. Continue reading »
