Posted by: ryan @ 10:16 pm in diy refinishing, moving things

Here’s Naomi’s bike ready to ride for Spring. It’s not completely fixed the way we want it yet, but so far we’re happy with the way it looks and rides.

Blast from the past – Museum of Vancouver

Posted by: naomi @ 1:07 pm in reviews, vintage finds

What is the Museum of Vancouver? The Museum of Vancouver creates Vancouver-focused exhibitions and programs which encourage dynamic conversations about what was, is and can be Vancouver – basically it’s an awesome walk down memory lane with realistic displays of what life was like during different decades over the past 100 years.

Vintage Dutch Locomotief city bike

Posted by: naomi @ 12:31 am in moving things, vintage finds

I am so excited to blog about this. On Saturday we went down to Seattle to do some Christmas shopping and look at a bike. I know it’s the winter, but it’s also the best time to buy bikes because people either sell them or store them until next year. After scouring Craigslist for a vintage Dutch bike, Ryan came across this one – it’s a Locomotief from the 1960s and ain’t she a looker!

Restoring a Ichizuka Telinar 105mm f/4.5 lens

Posted by: ryan @ 10:47 pm in cameras & lenses, diy refinishing

A few weeks ago I picked up an interesting vintage camera lens designed by the Ichizuka Optical Company. This lens, the Telinar 105mm F/4.5, originates from Japan, dating back to the mid 50’s & 60’s. Very little is known about this lens and its manufacturer. The only information I could find online was on the Camerapedia website. Drawn by its aluminum build, quirky shape, m42 mount and $20 price tag I was curious to see what sort of images it could produce.

Book Review: Tiki Modern

Posted by: ryan @ 10:00 am in books, home decor

Tiki style – love it or hate it. It can be both quirky and tacky at the same time. Myself, I adore Tiki style – if done right. When Taschen published the book Tiki Modern and The Wild World of Witco, I had to make it part of my collection. Continue reading »

1969 Eaton’s Spring & Summer Catalogue

Posted by: naomi @ 12:01 am in books, vintage finds

Here are some photos from the 1969 Eaton’s Spring & Summer Catalogue – sure to elicit a few giggles. Not much to say except I found this in a box at a flea market on Vancouver Island. The following are a few of my favorite pages from the catalogue.

Vintage 1960s Adjust-O-Matic dress form

Posted by: naomi @ 12:16 am in travel, vintage finds

We’re back from Oregon and it was a fantastic weekend of art, culture, coastlines and antiquing. I wasn’t having much luck with the vintage/antique stores until Ryan came across this amazing, in-perfect-condition adjustable dress form.  It was sitting in the corner of an antique mall in Newport, Oregon a few minutes away from the aquarium (which is amazing, btw – everyone should visit). I have the original box and instructional manual, although the stand is missing. Total cost: $35.00.
