Antiques at the Croatian Cultural Centre

Posted by: naomi @ 5:24 pm in events, thrifting

There’s a local company called 21c Promotions that puts on antique fairs/flea markets and retro design events once a month at rotating locations. Last month’s event was an antique fair at the Croatian Cultural Centre on Commercial Drive.

Giddyup: Red Barn Antiques

Posted by: naomi @ 12:01 am in featured shops, thrifting

A few weekends ago after Ryan and I visited the Cloverdale Flea Market, we decided to explore Cloverdale further and came across the MOTHERLOAD of all antique stores. This place is badass – like badass to the extreme. On the outside, it looks like a cutesy place with typical vintage wares. Inside, it’s heaven within four walls and I walked around with my mouth open wide enough that I would give any venus fly trap a run for their money.

Vintage button push pins on Etsy

Posted by: naomi @ 8:52 pm in featured shops, people

The lovely Farrah Maliavsky wrote to us about her vintage button pins on Etsy. If you’re like me, you have a million pieces of paper and quickly scribbled notes floating around or little photos and odds and ends that you’re constantly losing. These pins are made from an assortment of vintage buttons and would be a great way (along with a cork board) to keep your life organized with style.

Bon Voyage – I <3 vintage suitcases

Posted by: naomi @ 12:03 am in thrifting, travel

I have a thing for old suitcases. Ever since I discovered such a thing existed I’ve been buying and selling any cool looking ones that I might happen to come across. If I could, I would keep them all except I have no room. I’ve cut my collection down to the lovely 3 shapes that you see here: round, square and rectangular.

The Cloverdale Fleamarket

Posted by: ryan @ 11:48 pm in thrifting, vintage finds

This past Sunday Naomi and I went to the Cloverdale Flea Market to see what vintage finds awaited us. It’s one of our favorite places to browse for knick knacks on a Sunday in Vancouver. If the weather is good, the crowds will be large and the vendors plentiful.

The Vancouver Flea Market

Posted by: ryan @ 12:08 am in events, thrifting

It was rainy last week, so Naomi and I decided to visit The Vancouver Flea Market. It’s located indoors, open all year round and costs $0.75 to get in.

What’s not to like?

1969 Eaton’s Spring & Summer Catalogue

Posted by: naomi @ 12:01 am in books, vintage finds

Here are some photos from the 1969 Eaton’s Spring & Summer Catalogue – sure to elicit a few giggles. Not much to say except I found this in a box at a flea market on Vancouver Island. The following are a few of my favorite pages from the catalogue.

Vancouver Flea Markets & Antique Fairs

Posted by: naomi @ 3:41 pm in events

For those of you local to Vancouver, one of my favorite places to hunt for antiques and one-of-a-kind items is at the 21st Century Promotions Flea Market & Antique Fair. They have monthly events around the Lower Mainland and I always find tons of unique things for the house, stuff to fuel my pyrex obsession and prints to hang on my walls. It’s also great to be in a room full of knowledgeable people who have a passion for vintage items and other old things.

The last one just passed (July 19) so mark your calendars for August 29 and 30 for the Burnaby Lake Antiques Fair from 10am to 5pm. Entry is $6 at the door.
